Lisa Storto-Featherston, LCSW
Adolescent, Adult, Individual, Family, and Sports Specific Therapy
Lisa received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Benedictine University in 1990 and completed her graduate degree in Clinical Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago’s School of Social Work in 1992. Lisa is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the National Association of Christians in Social Work. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 16 years of clinical experience who has been in private practice since 2000.
Lisa’s clinical strengths have been shaped by her extensive and varied work history. Lisa began her career at Linden Oaks Hospital working with adolescents who were experiencing significant life crises and were placed in a psychiatric in-patient setting. She then worked for Will County’s Mental Health Department-Youth Services Division where she continued to help adolescents and families therapeutically. Lisa then chose to work within the school system. First, at a therapeutic day school in Markham, IL and then in Naperville School District #204 where she assessed various emotional needs of children and helped to develop appropriate plans of action.
Lisa specializes in working with adolescent females ages 16 and older, and over the past several years has done extensive work in the area of self-injury with adolescents. Lisa also works with people suffering from depression, anxiety, eating disorders, post traumatic stress, obsessive compulsive disorder, sexual/physical abuse, grief, post partum issues and other life transitions. Due to Lisa’s extensive history as a competitive figure skater and coach, she also works with competitive athletes on sport specific issues
including peak performance, performance pressure, mental blocks and motivation. Lisa does not limit herpractice to adolescents and works extensively with adults as well. Lisa does not see clients under the age of 16 nor does she do marital/couples work.
Lisa primarily does individual therapy with her clients but does incorporate family work of various degrees in relation to her adolescent clients and their needs.
